C2E September 2008

This months mix is a blend of the old and new with 4 of the tracks at least 10 years old. One of which is our opening number - "Herbal Essence" by Mecca, which was released by Strictly in September 1992, that's 16 years almost to the day. We then stay pretty deep and minimal with "The Phat Track", which has the same feel as the tracks from the early 90's. Our first slice of velvet arrives with Rocco's "Someday". Solid vocal house appears in the middle of the mix with the excellent "Loveblind" and Earnshaws mix of "Call My Name". We then turn the clock back to the mid 90's with an old favourite of mine from Junior Boys Own. Crime - "Rhythm Graffiti" is a classic for me, especially with the Jungle Brothers accapella thrown over the top. DJ Spen turns out another quality mix, this time "Reach Out For Love" get's that deep warm gospel feel. We have another JBO release next with "Odyssey" which featured on the MAW Ministry sessions mix from the mid 90's. Mr Earnshaw then returns with another great mix, two in one month, the guys on fire! We finish up with two chilled tracks. "Ain't no friend of mine" is a slow funk/lounge tune perfect for a beach sunset. The last track is one of my favourite Henry St releases, with a great transition in the middle. Lot's of variation on this months mix. Something for everyone. Tracklisting:

Podcast SummaryThe very best in deep discofried soulful house with a warm latin centre, sprinkled with classics.
About RichieBeen into house music for 20 years now. Lucky enough to grow up in the North of England in the late 80's early 90's. Enabled me to see all the legendary DJs that built the scene. Been DJ'ing since 94. Over the years I've been into most scenes as they emerged, House, US Garage, UK Garage, Deep House, Funky House, Latin Vibes, Chicago Jack and of course the Soulful Vocal stuff. My mixes are a reflection of those styles, usually starting off on a mellow vibe progressing through to the chunky stuff before bringing you safely back down on the other side. The common theme being great quality bottom heavy, shake your ass music. Legends for me over the years - too many to mention them all: MAW, Joey Negro, Grant Nelson, Quentin Harris, DJ Spen, Karizma, Tony Humphries, Kerri Chandler, Brian Tappert, Graham Park, Mike Pickering, Liquid People - the list goes on. Favourite labels over the years - Strictly, Nervous, Swing City, Nice N Ripe, UnRestricted Access, Code Red, Old Skool Subliminal, Old Skool Defected, Soulfuric, Z Records, Old Skool Azuli, King St, MAW, Purple. I moved to Sydney on the other side of the world 2006. It's a great place, but I do miss the house scene in the UK, theres just nothing else quite like it. If you ever get the chance, get down to the Southport Weekender for the best music weekend of your life! I really miss it! Thank you for taking the time to listen. Hope you enjoy the mixes, as much as I enjoy creating them. That's my little boy Bailey on the decks. He'll be big in the scene one day - just watch out! Current Favourite track - Francois K - Awakening (Needs Remix) , oh my, oh my oh my, oh my oh my oh my! Enjoy! Fans of this Show
